Precious Earth

Nature’s cracked shell has been shown
Mountains poke out of the Earth
as shoulders, spines, rubs and eventually
Mother Earth will hush the plants cries.
And stitch the rocks over with grass
trees and songbirds.
And the burnt out houses slump
as gravestones.
Cemetery head, graveyard mind.
The baby will stir, molten core erupts
in tantrums of lava and earthquakes.
But out here we’re so barren,
emptying oceans, vanishing starlight
and barren industrial wasteland.
Our Earth lies as a baby bird in an egg
but it will not survive the cold of the outside.
We’re failing, we’re failing
the Earth will be a miscarriage
